Finance is the field of the position designated as the Hannes Gebhard Professor in Finance and Insurance.
Markku Kaustia, D.Sc. (Econ. & Bus. Admin.), has been appointed Full Professor to the Department of Finance at the School of Business, starting 1 March 2014.
Markku Kaustia has worked at the Helsinki School of Economics and subsequently at the Aalto University School of Business as a Professor of Finance since 2008. As a visiting professor, he has taught in the United States at Wharton School of Business and University of Michigan Ross School of Business.
Professor Kaustia has investigated, among other things, micro-foundations of investment epidemics, dynamics of investors' risk aversion, and behavioral biases of finance professionals. He has published several articles in the most high-ranking finance journals.
Aalto University established the position of Hannes Gebhard Professor in Finance and Insurance to acknowledge the support of the OP-Pohjola Group in promoting scientific research work in the field of finance. Hannes Gebhard was a Finnish businessman, professor of economic history and economics, member of Parliament and the father of Finnish cooperative business operations. Today, on 8 April 2014, 150 years have passed since the birth of Hannes Gebhard.
The Hannes Gebhard Professor in Finance and Insurance also symbolizes the long-term collaboration between OP-Pohjola and Aalto University, as well as our common objectives to advance education and research in the Finnish finance sector.
